The old pastor walked into church in hope to save some souls
took a look around and asked "where did the people go?
This place used to be filled every Sunday morn
it had been that way since the day I was born.
But here it is Sunday, there's the worship call,
so where are the people who believe in it all?
It used to be packed, so much you could boast
but now the only ones here are Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
The pews are all empty, every seat untouched,
where are the ones who claim to love the Lord so much?
No Bible is opened, no hymns are being sung,
this isn't the way it was when I was young,
there should be lots of singing and praising his name,
this is so disheartening, this is truly a shame".
So standing in the pulpit, the old pastor bowed his head,
and prayed to his Savior that he would be led,
to fill this church again the way it used to be
every Sunday morning like this, you see,
just then the vestibule door was thrown open wide,
and the pastor's dutiful wife stepped inside,
"Darling ,what are you doing? I am worrying my life away!
why are you in the pulpit, it's only Saturday..."
